Collaborative Divorce

Neutral Mental Health Professional

Divorce is difficult, but it does not have to be destructive. Collaborative Divorce gives you and your spouse an opportunity to work through the divorce process respectfully and privately, with the support of a team of trained professionals. Rather than focusing on the conflicts of the past, the goal is to find solutions that allow you and your family to move forward.

As the Neutral Mental Health Professional, I work alongside you, your spouse, your Collaborative attorneys, and the other professionals involved in the process. My role is different from that of a therapist. I do not represent or provide therapy to either spouse. Instead, I serve as a neutral member of the Collaborative team, helping address the emotional and communication issues that can make negotiations and decision-making more difficult.

Part of my role is helping you and your spouse navigate difficult conversations, recognize communication patterns that may be getting in the way, and communicate more effectively throughout the process. I also work closely with your Collaborative attorneys and other team members to help keep conversations productive, focused, and moving toward resolution.

When children are involved, I help parents keep their children’s needs at the center of the process. This may include developing a parenting plan that reflects the unique needs of your family and establishing communication and co-parenting strategies that support your children and your ongoing relationship as parents.

Your marriage may be ending, but your family does not simply disappear. Collaborative Divorce provides a way to navigate that transition with support, respect, and a thoughtful plan for moving forward.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
